OHH Camp JOY

Help us spread JOY to those separated from their loved ones due to deployment.

Deployment is hard on parents burning the homefires while a loved one is deployed. They take care of everything, often without any family or support system close by. Because of this, many of these mommies (and dad's too) get no break for months at a time. But deployment doesn't take a break.  
That's why we have started the OHH Camp JOY program -- a day off for Mom/Dad and a fun day for the kids

Our next OHH Camp JOY will be on Saturday, December 1st from 10 am -3 pm for families, 9am-3:30pm for volunteers. The camp's theme will be "Winter Wonderland," with lots of fun Christmas and seasonal activities for the kids.

WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT SADDLEBACK VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS HAVE GRACIOUSLY OFFERED TO BE THE HOST LOCATION OF OUR DECEMBER 1ST CAMP JOY. NESTLED IN THE CANYON IN SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, THIS WILL BE THE PERFECT LOCATION FOR OUR NEXT CAMP. THANK YOU, SVCS!!!!
 
Shift: 9am- 3:30 pm (no shorter shifts for this camp)
Jobs: counselors, activity coordinators, carnival games and babysitters. Please share your preference but know that volunteers will be utilized where needed most and you may not get your first choice.

 A 5 Hour Break for MOM/DAD
OHH Camp JOY is designed to give Moms (and Dads) with spouses deployed a solid 5 hours to themselves. This is time to take a nap, run errands, go to the hair salon and anything else many "deployment single" parents have difficulty doing being head of household during deployments. 

5 Hours of Fun for their Kids

OHH Camp JOY gives children, dealing with a parent deployed, an opportunity to be around members of the community who appreciate the sacrifice they make and adults to serve as mentors. Our hope is that every camp is so special, so fun, and so filled with JOY that each child will spend the day focused on the celebration not the separation.

 And 5 Hours for our Community to Serve

OHH Camp JOY gives a hands-on opportunity for civilian volunteers to thank and support the military families who serve them. Volunteers serve as counselors, activity directors, craft/art directors, sports coordinators and more. More importantly, volunteers get to serve in a mentor role for kids with deployed parents.
